When an electric current flows in a wire it creates a magnetic field around the wire. By winding the wire into a coil we can strengthen the magnetic field. Electromagnets are made from coils like this. Electromagnet-Sucker is a kind of these products; also know as Sucker Solenoids.

Warning of the sucker solenoids& Electromagnets

The retention of Sucker Solenoid is in proportion to the pull-in surface and flatness. Thus, the pull-in surface should be smooth and the surface area of the object should be larger than or the same to the Electromagnetic pull-in area to ensure the maximum retention.
