Yttrium oxide is currently the most widely used plasma erosion resistant material. Spraying a 0.15mm thick yttrium oxide coating on the inner wall surface of the chip etching machine cavity can effectively avoid contamination of the cavity substrate on the silicon wafer etching. At the same time, the overhaul life of the etching machine can be extended from 15 days to 6 months.

1. It is suitable for ceramics manufacturing.

2. It is resistant to many reactive molten metals such as titanium or uranium.

3. For producing of multilayer ceramic capacitors, Yttrium oxide is also employed as a dopant to reduce the Curie temperature of the barium titanate substrate due to its special properties.

Yttrium oxide because of its properties may also be used as a laminated insulator. Y₂O₃ is the most thermodynamically stable compound in the oxide group. It is resistant to many reactive molten metals such as titanium or uranium. In its industrial application as a pure ceramic, yttrium oxide is still a relatively new material.
