What is a lock cylinder in a car?

The ignition lock cylinder is the cylindrical and mechanical part used to start your car. Housed inside the electrical component that locks the ignition known as the ignition switch. It's often welded onto the steering column and is usually located on the right side, behind the steering wheel.

What is cylinder lock used for?

Most deadbolts use a cylinder lock. In the cylinder lock, the key turns a cylinder, or plug, which turns an attached cam. When the plug is turned one way, the cam pulls in on the bolt and the door can open.

Functionality:

When the retractable vanes rotate inside the chamber, the power steering fluid is drawn into the pump and compressed. The amount of high-pressure fluid generated by the pump is directly proportional to the speed of the engine. Hence, at high engine speeds, the pump will produce more fluid than required. To keep a check on the amount of fluid generated, a pressure-relief valve is included in the pump. The valve makes sure that the right amount of fluid is generated, even at high engine speeds.
