Medium Duty Ceramic Gas Discharge Tube 230V 20% 10KA Plasma Arrestor 8.0x6mm
Description Of The Medium Duty Ceramic Gas Discharge Tube 230V
A: The commonly used semiconductor discharge tube materials are
silicon (Si) and germanium (Ge), both of which are tetravalent
elements. Figure 1 shows a schematic diagram of the structure of a
silicon single crystal. The two adjacent atoms in the picture form
a covalent bond by a pair of shared electrons, when the temperature
is as low as absolute zero. When there is no external light or heat
emission, the electron in the covalent bond is a kind of bound
electron and cannot move freely. Its characteristics are equivalent
to an insulator and cannot conduct electricity. However, this bond
is not very strong. At room temperature, a small number of valence
electrons will be excited by heat or light to gain enough energy to
break free from the bond and become free electrons. When there is
no external electric field, the movement of these electrons is
irregular. When there is an external electric field, these
electrons move directionally against the direction of the electric
field to form an electric current, which is called electronic
conduction.
B: When a valence electron breaks free from the bondage and becomes
a free electron, it leaves a vacancy in its original position at
the same time. This vacancy is called a hole. The appearance of
holes is an important feature that distinguishes the semiconductor
discharge tube from other conductors.
C: Free electrons are negatively charged particles, and holes can
be regarded as positively charged particles, and they are all
carriers. The current in the circuit is composed of two parts.
Under the action of an external electric field, the movement of
free electrons and the movement of holes are opposite, but the
direction of the current formed is the same.
