Gabion Retaining Wall Design / Welded Gabion Basket Stone Walls‎

Site Preparation

Step 1

Place stakes at the corners of the site where you intend to construct the gabion wall. Use the spade to dig up any grass or plants that would have roots under the wall.

Step 2

Examine the earth under the wall. If it is soft soil or clay, dig down a few inches and fill the hole with gravel to give extra support to the weight of the wall.

Step 3

Use the hoe to smooth the ground or gravel under the wall. Place the board on the ground and use the level to make sure the base of the wall is approximately level.

These are blocks made of gabion mesh, which can be filled on the site with rocks, stones, debris and crushed concrete.
(Note: siar boxes can also be made out of welded wire mesh)

Gabion Mattresses:

Mattresses out of gabions are used to provide protection on water courses.

Gabion Rock fall netting:

This kind of netting made out of gabion mesh finds application in preventing rocks and debris from spilling.

Gabion Sack:

Used in controlling water flow.
