Introduction of Pea Protein
Pea protein is a high-quality plant-based protein derived from yellow split peas (*Pisum sativum*). It is produced by isolating the protein component from peas through a process of drying, milling, and purification. As a vegan-friendly and hypoallergenic protein source, it has gained popularity in recent years as a sustainable alternative to animal-based proteins and other plant proteins like soy or wheat.
Pea protein is rich in essential amino acids, especially lysine, and although slightly lower than protein from animal sources, it is still suitable for vegetarians and vegans. Each 100 grams of pea protein contains up to 7 mg of iron, which is close to 39% of the daily iron requirement and is suitable for people with iron deficiency anemia.
