The hot-swappable IBM 1 TB Hard Drive features a 2.5-inch SFF and is able to be swapped in and out of a device without the need to shut down the system, much like the way USB peripherals work. This IBM 81Y9690 internal SAS hard drive boasts a spindle speed of 7200 RPM for a decrease in latency when reading and writing data to and from the drive. The S.M.A.R.T. compliant IBM 1 TB Hard Drive uses a serial attached SCSI communication protocol that uses point-to-point architecture through a host bust adapter that is fitted with simultaneously operating full-duplex channels. Because of this, the consumer is able to connect standard 3 Gbps SATA drives to the IBM 81Y9690 internal SAS hard drive in a variety of configurations to suit needs particular to the system. The 600 Mbps IBM 1 TB Hard Drive operates at temperatures between 41 degrees and 140 degrees F between 5 to 80 percent humidity.
