The heatsponge economizer is a modern design that was created from a clean sheet of paper to provide what is in our opinion the ideal balance of performance, functionality, and cost. Designed for a multitude of applications: Base heatsponge economizers are supplied with carbon steel tubes or fins for applications that allow for its use. For installations that cannot utilize carbon steel tubes all heatsponge models can be upgraded to stainless steel tubes and fins. All heatsponge economizers feature one piece construction that integrates inlet and outlet transitions into a fully insulated casing. The lower section of every heatsponge is fitted with a series of baffles to catch and drain condensation, rain, or water from a tube failure out of the unit stopping it from going down a stack. All heatsponge economizers are built to section viii of the asme code with section i available. We also include a safety relief valve in the base price of every unit. Low maintenance: All rectangular heatsponge units feature individually replaceable fin tube elements that connect to the header with a compression fitting. Our unit is designed for a long life but accidents do happen, tubes do freeze and scale up, and parts wear out over time. The ability to quickly replace a heatsponge tube with no welding is a key feature of our rectangular units. Repairs are fast, easy, and do not need any special outside contractors to accomplish. Simply unbolt the rear access door, undo the compression connection for the failed tube element, slide out and replace the tube, retighten the compression fitting, and bolt the rear door back on. Since every tube element is its own circuit you can operate a heatsponge with one tube out service to maintain your heat recovery while waiting for a convenient time to shut the boiler down to perform the repair. Rugged constructions: All heatsponge economizers are engineered and manufactured for long service lives.
