: Electronics sourcing fair to continue supporting China's industry at fall event




Global Sources' China Sourcing Fair: Electronics & Components returns bigger than before when its Fall edition runs from October 10 to 12, 2005 at Shanghai Mart and the adjacent INTEX, to continue functioning as a valuable tool to support China's booming finished electronics industry. The show's spring edition, which ran from April 12 to 14, featured 64 percent more floor space than the 2004 show - and the fall edition is poised to top those records.
Last spring's wide selection of components and finished electronic products on display attracted 5.9 percent more buyers than the 2004 spring show. Some 18,829 attendees arrived last spring, and there was a 29.6 percent increase in international volume buyers representing the U.S., Japan, Germany, France, Australia and 117 other countries.

"High buyer attendance confirms that the China Sourcing Fairs are now firmly established on buyers' sourcing calendars," said Global Sources Chairman and CEO, Merle Hinrichs.

The China Sourcing Fairs are an integral part of Global Sources commitment to help buyers source more efficiently using Asian Sources magazines, Global Sources Online, in-depth research reports and face-to-face. These tools are used by Global Sources' community of more than 430,000 buyers and 130,000 suppliers.

What makes the show different is that China is now entering a new era in electronics manufacturing. Mark Saunderson, head of Global Sources' Electronics Business Unit, said that China's electronics companies will "optimize the functionality and performance of those products by applying the latest chip technology, plus design and test methodologies. And they will continue to adopt world-class process management, supply-chain and export-marketing strategies." Throughout this period of dynamic change, the China Sourcing Fair: Electronics & Components serves as a guide for international buyers to access this fast-growing market.

At last spring's show, Gyual Mocher, a buyer for Karstadt Quelle in Germany, was impressed with the quality of the suppliers at the show. "Factories in China used to be my 'C' and 'D' level suppliers. But here I have made contact with companies that will be on my 'A' and 'B' lists. I was originally planning on going to another fair in Hong Kong Fair today, but I've cancelled that spend more time here."

Exhibitors like George Liu, president of Guangdong Surpass Electronic Product Casing, said, "The Fair helps us market our products internationally. We'll be here for the fall show as well as the spring show in Hong Kong in 2006. We've purchased a package for this."

It's for reasons like these that the WorldWide Retail Exchange (WWRE) has exclusively endorsed the China Sourcing Fair. The WWRE's combined annual sales totals US$900 billion.

Martin Lee, CEO of Ledman Optoelectronics, was particularly impressed by the turnout. "This is only the first day of the China Sourcing Fair, and we have already spoken to six buyers. We have participated in two fairs in the past, and I can say that the crowd of buyers coming to the CSF is different: there are more foreign buyers coming to the CSF."
